Our nursing department provides excellent care combined with dignity and genuine consideration for our residents. Professionally staffed with Licensed Vocational Nurses around the clock, and supervised by our team of Registered Nurses, we give your loved one comfort and specialized care. Our ability to provide a wonderful work environment to our staff allows us to provide our residents with continuity, dependability, and a warm and friendly attitude. Our nursing services are our greatest attribute, due in no small measure to our great nursing team. Our nursing services are under the direct supervision of our Director of Nursing Services who is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of skilled nursing experience.
Each of our residents come to us with very different and specific rehabilitation needs. Our entire rehabilitation team is committed to creating individualized therapy programs that directly answer those specific needs. We encourage the resident to achieve their maximum potential for independence and ability. Our rehabilitation department is available 6 days a week and includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Pathologists who utilize their vast knowledge and skills to assist our residents in developing their own abilities.
Our facility also provides Restorative Nursing programs as ordered by the resident’s attending physician. Restorative Nursing is a means of providing range of motion or ambulation exercises to a resident to maintain a resident’s functional abilities. This is a free service provided by our facility with the singular goal of reducing the resident’s physical decline.
We are proud to contract with a handful of select hospice agencies in our area. These agencies augment our own services by providing additional visits to our residents who have elected to receive hospice services. Hospice agencies provide additional bedside visits, spiritual support to the resident and their family, and ensure that physician orders address the pain and discomfort that can accompany debilitating conditions. Coupled with the security and services provided by our own 24 hours per day staff, the election of hospice services can offer extra help during a difficult time and provide emotional and spiritual support for the resident and their family.
Respite Care is a minimum nursing home stay allowing the routine caregiver, usually a family member, the ability to take time off from their duties while ensuring that their loved one receives the services needed in their absence. At Mesa Glen, we have routine respite care residents. These residents live in their homes nearby and receive care from a family member that includes medication administration, basic hygiene services, meals, etc. When that family member has a need to be away from home they bring their loved one to us, and we assume the caregiving duties. This service is paid for by Medi-Cal with an approved “Treatment Authorization Request” which we will happily submit on behalf of the resident. If the resident does not qualify for Medi-Cal they can pay privately for Respite Care. Any resident can be eligible for Respite Care with orders from their attending physician and an appropriate payment source. A positive and uplifting atmosphere is vital to the success of healing, recovery, and rehabilitation. Mesa Glen Care Center employs outgoing and friendly professional staff to create social programs and activities to fit the residents’ individual needs. We provide a monthly activity calendar to each resident to keep them informed of upcoming events. Standard monthly events include two outings, one for shopping one for dining; at least one holiday or special occasion party; a monthly birthday party; cooking class; Bingo at least twice weekly; as well as daily exercise. Our most special events are held on Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve when we invite family and friends to join our residents and staff in celebrating with a luncheon prepared lovingly by our dietary staff. We also hold a fabulous 4th of July BBQ for our residents and staff with all the trimmings (no families allowed for this one). We also enjoy a County Breakfast at which time our very own Department Managers cook breakfast to order from a menu developed by our residents.
We welcome volunteers to our facility to help enhance our activity program. Volunteer applications can be obtained from our Activity Director or our Director of Social Services.
Social services provide essential information, manage requests, address concerns, coordinate appointments and assist with obtaining transportation for resident appointments outside the facility. Our Social Service Designee provides tours to prospective residents and their families. They assist residents through the often time consuming and sometimes confusing admission process supplying the answers to the many questions that arise from staying in a nursing home. They also initiate discharge planning with the resident and their family upon admission to our facility.
Our Social Service Designee strives to maintain contact and open communication between the facility, families, and the residents. To this end, they participate in the development of the resident’s individual care plan working with the resident, their family, and facility staff in identifying problems and coming up with solutions.
